Opportunities for US investors in Vietnam

Strong opportunities for US investors were confirmed by Dr. Lawrence Spinelli, representative from the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) during his visit to Vietnam.

At a press meeting on March 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Spinelli said that OPIC's investment conference which will be held on May 3-5, 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia will gather more than 250 US investors from around the world. There are also other financial institutions to support investment. This is the first conference of OPIC held in Southeast Asia, targeting emerging markets in the region such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.

This will be a forum for US investors and partners discussing fields such as trade finance, infrastructure, tourism, renewable energy. Mr. Lawrence Spinelli said that although this is his first visit to Vietnam, he found that this country offered good opportunities for US investors, especially in the fields of infrastructure and energy.
